Pipeline Parallelism

Quettaflop logo

Cluster 1 tests the hypothesis that pipeline parallelism can unlock meaningful inference performance from commodity GPU hardware.

By distributing model layers across lower-cost GPUs in sequence, the cluster explores whether intelligent software architecture can substitute for raw hardware capability and offer a compelling alternative to the latest and most expensive silicon.

Future clusters will comprise leading edge and experimental hardware.

Two-switch GPU↔GPU fabric (2× NVIDIA SN5610, racks A3/B3), isolated from frontend and storage traffic.

Rack layout
Cluster 1 rack layout: racks A2, A3, B2 and B3 holding 16 RTX PRO GPU nodes (GPU 01 to 16), with an 800GbE GPU fabric switch at the top of racks A3 and B3
Network topology
Cluster 1 network topology: the IPMI and management network (1GbE) and the storage network (800/200GbE) connect the management, login, GPU, NVMe storage and HDD storage nodes; the GPU network (800GbE) connects the GPU nodes only; management and login nodes connect externally to the DC network
